Free Coco Bag Pattern and Tutorial

I wanted to wait until tomorrow to tell you about the Coco Bag but just couldn't contain myself any longer so here I am.

I tested the Coco Bag for Christine over at

It's a great bag as is all her bags. I know because I've made quite a few of them. LOL This one is even better because it's FREE. Her patterns are the best, full of instructions and photos that makes even the most complicated technique really easy. Go try it out and I know you will be hooked like me. The other good point is that if you have any problems with making her bags you just email her and you are to get a quick reply.

I'll be posting a photo of mine in a day or two.

Happy sewing everyone.

Kitchen Set

Posted by Maria on January 27, 2012 at 4:45 PM Comments comments (13)

At last I finished a kitchen set I have been making for a friend to give as a thankyou present. Took me longer than I thought. There was loads of hand stitching on the potholders but I think it was worth it.

The tea towel goes on the oven door handle and is held in place with a with a velcro band.

No more tea towels falling on the floor. There is a selection of potholders, the two at the top you can slip your hands into the opening like a glove and to finish it off I made a little matching fabric bowl.

Hope she likes it.

Seems that some have been interested in where the pattern came from. I didn't post it originally because I was still trying to get used to this new blog. I'll post it here and hope it works.

or you could visit her site and get it from there. It's on the right hand side.

The 'insert link button' isn't working so I have just copy pasted the link. Hope it opens.

Another Phoebe but Different

Here's another Phobe Bag but this one is made with upholstery fabrics. This one was slightly more difficult to do than the denim one because some of the fabrics frayed quite a bit.

I quilted the front and back to give it more stability and then the other thing that was bothering me about the bags I make was making them weather proof. Nothing worse than a shower of rain coming down and having to worry about soggy contents. LOLL

On this bag I added a waterproof fabric hidden between the lining and main fabric. I think I'll do this on most of my bags from now on.

The back of the bag I like as much as the front, it has a silver thread through it and sparkles.

Now for another project. I think the next one will be kitchen accessories but first time to clean up the mess I've made.

Christine is a fabulous bag designer. Her patterns are very well written with loads and loads of photos to help you through every step of your bag making. Up until now all her patterns have been for sale but she is working on a freebie so keep your eyes peeled, I'm sure it will be a winner.

I've posted her blog in my links section if you'd like to take a look at her blog.

My first post and two new bags

The first bag is a denim backpack. Although the denim is quite sturdy I used some soft fusible fleece to give it a little more body.

The second one that I just completed last night is a Phoebe Bag that has been made in patchwork denim. I also added a denim flower to it and some buttons.

This is the back view

and the denim flower

I'm off to clean up the mess I made in my sewing room then I'll be ready for another project.

Would love to hear your comments.
